I find it ironic that eWeek puts “fastest” and “windows” in the same sentence. Quite the oxymoron.

So how can a computer that spends most of its processing power on powering a GUI be fast? Well it has to run the Linpack benchmarking libraries. What makes this even more ironic is the LIN syllable. Of course it does not stand for Linux, but rather LINEAR as this benchmark is a number of algebraic based subroutines designed to test the floating point processing times in a high performance environment.

Ah irony. Sometimes it is just so sweet.

Yea - even surge protection cannot stop transient power anomalies. It seems that my video card on my primary server was bitten by a power outage/surge. Wouldn’t you know it…happened the evening prior to my traveling out of town for the week! Thank goodness for good friends like Scott Lemon. Scott sent me a new AP that had all kinds of good functionality in it. I switched over until just now when I finally was able to get my server up again.

So…sorry for the downtime. Glad no one noticed!
